There is an online database that you can query directly,
it is available at :

http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/safety/road_fatality_statistics/fat
al_road_crash_database.aspx

This database has information dating back as far as 1989.

It takes a little bit of time to get accustomed to the interface and how
it works , but you can extract a great deal of information with a little
patience.
